Love

What is love? What is real? Is romantic love the only love in the world? Where does it all come from anyway? Today’s poem reflects on these thoughts. What do you think?

Love

Our hearts connive, demand and seek
for love we think will make complete.
We hurt, we pain, seek to repay
when our rights have been betrayed.
But anger, bitterness, hatred, pride
grow and grow when left inside.

Why do we look and tell our hearts
no-one loves or cares a part.
The greatest love on earth about –
ours with no shadow of a doubt.
Tis a love that loves with no wrong
and is never lost for joy in song.

This love loves the ugly, horrid, poor,
mean and selfish, wounded, raw.
It will not change, can never fail
and kindness follows in its trail,
for it lifts the helpless, forgives, restores,
shows mercy to us and so much more.

What love is this? Where do I find?
It is priceless and by grace is mine…
mine forever, no matter what!
And it changes me for it rids of rot.
A new heart is given in the old one’s place
to show to others this same grace.

This love is God! He gave His Son
to die for us – His love has won!
He makes secure, gives peace and rest;
we know forever that we are blessed.
When the love of Jesus fills our hearts,
we’ll love each other and He’ll not depart.
