What Shall I Do With Jesus?

What shall I do with Jesus?Poems to lift the heart
A choice I must surely make:
the choice between Jesus Barabbas
and Jesus, Messiah, is at stake.

Will I stand with the crowd and religious
and yell, “He needs to die!”
Or, like Pilate, try to ignore
the witness, the claims of the Christ.

Will I choose Barabbas, the murderer,
the freedom to do what I would,
choosing the world to follow,
rejecting the holy and good?

To stand with Jesus the Messiah,
I submit to the God of love,
to the One who made all things,
who chose to shed His own blood.

He died for unrighteous and sinners;
not Himself, for perfect was He.
He chose to die to redeem
unworthy wretches like me.

To whom then shall I give my heart?
Barabbas, my self, my rights?
Or surrender to Jesus, the Christ,
the Saviour, the Truth, the world’s Light?

(Matt.27:11-26, Mark 15:6-15)
