Hopeless, helpless screams our world!
Young and old know not where to turn,
but to dull their hurts, escape their pain
and cry, “What’s the use?”. The world’s insane.
People do what for them feels right;
leaders rule without insight;
everyone’s obsessed with their own plight;
the world is truly black as night.
This need not be: it ought not be;
but set God aside, it always will be.
The Fathers’ love, kindness, mercy
are all around, yet few do see.
Why? Oh why? How blind our hearts!
Lord, remove the scales that keep us dark.
Let us see the Saviour and His love
when on the Cross, He salvation won.
There is forgiveness! There is hope!
There is freedom from our binding ropes!
There is joy! There is peace!
There is love which can never cease!
There is life: brand new life –
eternal life – in Jesus Christ.
He paid the price: come, believe!
He will deliver and set you free.
Safe are God’s children who in Christ abide,
while the world’s held captive to Satan’s lies.
But this world will end when Jesus comes again:
He’ll make all things new… and His Kingdom reigns!
