There is one great big amazing truth to fill us with hope and confidence even though the world – our personal world and the one out there – is a very uncertain one or even falling down around us. This is the subject of my most recent poem: One Thing Is Certain
I know not about tomorrow,
I cannot bank upon today;
when I view the world around me
it gives reason for dismay.
If this world holds all my dreams;
with the key wrapped up in me,
one day I’ll find “me” bankrupt
and lost my destiny.
But there is one thing for certain:
secure and pure as gold.
It’s the God who made and loves us
whose hands the world does hold.
Nothing can alarm Him;
He knows our world of pain;
always He is with us;
He cleanses from each stain.
He lifts us out of pits
turns things round to work for good.
And when He comes to make this world anew,
the reasons will be understood.
