Lord, how is it that You love me?
How is it that You know me
and called me by my name
even before I was with frame?
Why am I on Your palm a sign?
Why am I always in Your mind?
Why do You hold me as Your friend?
And with father care always tend?
You love in spite of weakness, pride,
twisted ways and corrupted mind.
Your love knows, yet reaches, saves,
and Your grace keeps; it never fails.
How come You love so dearly?
How come You gave Your life
that Your sheep might never perish,
but be precious in Your sight?
I am one of Your own sheep!
I hear Your voice and my heart leaps
to rise, trust and follow You,
the Shepherd, I’ve come to love now too.
