Yesterday I was cheery;
today, stressed and weary.
Yesterday I enjoyed health;
today I feel unwell.
Yesterday wealth I amassed;
today the bank could collapse.
Yesterday things were swell;
today nothing is working well.
This life never stays the same;
everything’s subject to change.
But thanks be to God:
He alone does not change!
His truth steadfast and pure;
His foundation stands sure.
As He loved yesterday,
He will love me tomorrow
and will do so today;
He cannot betray.
He’ll never forsake or will leave,
but is there for me
guiding and keeping;
in all things, good bringing.
On earth I’m a pilgrim;
things will always be changing.
But through every year,
I need have no fear…
For God is my Rock and my Refuge,
my Peace and my Rest,
my home in this life and next.
Forever He’s mine… and I’m blest!
