A father’s heart: we all have need;
without, a child grows like a weed.
A father’s strength and boundless love:
of these a child cannot have enough.
A true father’s heart is pure and kind.
He protects, provides for all the time.
Not a need he will not meet,
for his child’s good the goal he seeks.
To his presence there is welcome access:
here a child’s heart securely rests.
Rules and boundaries a father sets
as he knows all, so what is best.
His wisdom makes unfailing judgments;
a father is not weak or gutless.
At times he needs to discipline,
so his child learns to put off sin.
A child trusts a true father’s heart;
from his words, he’ll not depart;
follows closely in his footsteps;
stands with courage when life tests.
Across our nation, throughout the world,
Father God, raise up father hearts
who love, submit to, pattern You
their heavenly Father in all they do.
