That Night
That night was different…
full… bursting… a hum!
Longed for since Adam
and the time had now come!
Dark was the night!
Cold were the fields
where shepherds watched sheep.
What would the night yield?
Suddenly, out of the skies
burst brilliant light:
God’s glory was shining,
exploding the night.
An angel spoke to them,
“Do not fear”, what he said,
“For the Saviour is born
in Bethlehem.”
Multitudes of angels
then filled the skies
giving glory and praise,
to God, the most high.
“Peace with God and on earth,
goodwill between men.
Jesus Christ you will find;
to a stable, we send.”
The angels were gone!
With haste they now went
the Christ-child to sight
and share what this meant.
